Service Learning Program: Guidelines

ALL GRADES:

  • Complete 40 hours of civic engagement, through an approved organization within the community, according to grade level guidelines.

  • Fill out the Service Learning GoogleSheet and validate the hours regularly. Students will download sheet during service learning training.

  • Use the grade level rubric to complete one reflection per semester.

  • Summer: Up to 30* hours allowed; 10 must be completed during the school year.

  • Recommend 20 Hours in Semester 1 and 20 Hours in Semester 2.

*If working towards the Presidential Service Award (100 hours) more than 30 hours may be completed over the summer, however 10 still must be done during the school year.

Evidence & Reflection Guidelines

Each Service Learning experience needs to be submitted with proper evidence for validation. Improper evidence may result in rejected service hours.
