Objective - Students will discover the personal and community value of service and identify areas of interest in service on a path to becoming a lifelong, civically engaged citizen.
Guidelines:
Your focus should be on how to serve, why you are serving and exploring service options.
You must complete at least one activity in 3 different pillars of service.
Students explore additional service opportunities from any of the pillars on their own to fulfill their 40 total hours for the year.
ALL GRADES:
Complete 40 hours of civic engagement, through an approved organization within the community, according to grade level guidelines.
Fill out the Service Learning GoogleSheet and validate the hours regularly. Students will download sheet during service learning training.
Use the grade level rubric to complete one reflection per semester.
Summer: Up to 30* hours allowed; 10 must be completed during the school year.
Recommend 20 Hours in Semester 1 and 20 Hours in Semester 2.
*If working towards the Presidential Service Award (100 hours) more than 30 hours may be completed over the summer, however 10 still must be done during the school year.
