Linolium
Bench Plate
Brayer
Barren
Start with two "DABS" of ink on the bench plate
These inks are OLD. You will need to SQUISH them to mix the oil and pigment inside.
You will need to keep rolling the brayer over the ink until you hear a STICKY sound.
Pick up ink and roll it onto your linoleum plate.
YOU WILL HAVE TO PICK UP INK FROM THE BENCH PLATE MULTIPLE TIMES. Spreading out the ink does NOT work.
DON'T LET ANY INK GET INTO THE CRACKS!!!!
Lay paper on top of inked plate.
THIS IS A THE MAKE OR BREAK STEP!
You will need to use your BODY WEIGHT to press, smooth, and rub the paper and plate using the barren. This should take 3min.
ALL printmaking works are signed and dated. You will need to sign and date EACH of your prints as well.
Your first print will stink.....
You need to use trial and error. Look closely at what you made and make small changes to improve it. You are trying to make a clean print, with clear and visible lines.
You can make AS MANY ATTEMPTS as you need to get this right.
USE AS MUCH PAPER AS YOU WANT!!!
(Left = Not enough ink, Middle = Too much ink, Right = Not pressing hard enough)
Clean the roller, plate, and bench hook with the brush or sponge.
TWO BRAYERS (rollers) MAX PER TABLE
YOU NEED TO DRY THE TOOLS OR THEY WILLLLLLL RUSSSST!!!
