Senior Comprehensive Project

The final requirement for the certificate program, is the Senior Comprehensive Project which will take place during the last four weeks of the student's Senior year. Through this project, students will participate in a community-based project with a focus on public purpose and their certificate work. At the beginning of their SCP work, students will identify an essential question which they will attempt to answer throughout their work on their project. This essential question should be formed through the lens of their certificate and should be cleared with the certificate advisor. All other requirements of the certificate program should be completed before the start of the SCP and SCP hours DO NOT count towards the 80 hour activity requirement.

Students need to complete the required SCP by the end of the 12th grade year. These requirements are the same as all other senior projects, except for two important considerations

        • You must completed all 80 activity hours prior to the start of your SCP. Remember that these are two distinct requirements so that there is no overlap between the 80 activity hours and the SCP (in full, you would have worked 160 hours on certificate related work before graduation).

        • Your certificate advisor needs to sign off your essential question/project proposal to make sure there is a clear connection with your certificate work. You should keep your certificate advisor informed throughout the project in May, but you will work with other assignment faculty members as cohort and mentors throughout the process.

During the SCP, a final Certificate Showcase will be scheduled (date TBA) where Senior certificate students will present their completed digital portfolios and SCP work up to that point as a final conclusion to their certificate work.
