What if I am teaching a course that a student is using a paper/project for their certificate?

    • What you should know if you are a faculty member teaching a course that a student is using a paper/project as part of their certificate credit:
        • Students should alert their teacher at the start of the assignment that they plan on using the paper/project as one of their three major projects towards their certificate.
        • Students must earn a B average or higher and have at least 5 major sources as part of their research to be able to apply the paper/project towards the certificate. It may be possible to use a smaller assignment in your course that is built upon after submission to be counted as a major project for certificates. You need not be involved in that follow up, but are welcomed to if of interest. Grades for these projects and assignments are still determined by the classroom teacher, and any smaller assignment that is built upon after submission for the purpose of the certificate does not require an additional or change in grade.
        • Certificate students are required to share their projects or papers with an audience that must consist of more than just the classroom teacher. This can be an in-class presentation, but they are also welcome to share their project with a wider audience. Teachers and Advisors are encouraged to attend these wider showcases, but not required. All projects used for certificate credit should also be posted on their online portfolio once completed.
