Area Type Activity

1.  Find an amazing quote or song lyric that inspires you.

2. Find an image that supports your quote.  Search Google for a "silhouette png".  Try to find an image that is complete with no cutout, and simple.

3. Create a new project for an I Pad Pro, this would be under the Mobile preset.  Name the file "Quote", and CMYK color mode.

4.  Place your image in Illustrator.

File> Place

5. Change your silhouette layer to a template layer

Double click on dead space

6. Add a new layer and name it working layer.

7. Trace the outer edges of your image with your pen tool. Be sure to complete the path to create a shape

8. Fill shape with a color.

9. Fill in the shape with a quote, and change the color to any color you would like.  Using the Area Type Tool (15 pts)  See tutorial.

10. Export as jpeg.  Name file:  Your name_quote  (10 pts)
