ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES | LINK

Students are encouraged to participate in athletics and activities sponsored by the Pella Schools! Above is a link to the handbook that lists the names of coaches and all the extra-curricular offerings at the high school.

ATTENDANCE

Please notify the school office whenever your child will be missing school by emailing hsoffice@pellaschools.org or by calling 641-628-3870. During school hours, students are to check in and out with the front office.

BACKPACKS | LINK

Students are not allowed to carry backpacks during the school day. Students may use a backpack to transport books and belongings to and from school. Backpacks must remain in lockers between 8:10 a.m. and the end of the school day. Handbags smaller than a school textbook may be carried at school (small purses, pencil pouches etc.).

Calendars for specific events, athletics, or activities can be downloaded to your personal calendar on your phone or computer and notifications can be set on cancellations & updates to all events. 

CELL PHONES | LINK

Cell phones are not be “used, seen, or heard” in the classroom and in the academic hallways during class time. It is recommended all cell phones should be turned “OFF” and placed in a locker or a pocket during class time.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS | LINK

Find out what is happening by reading the daily announcements posted on the HIGH SCHOOL main page of the school’s website, www.pellaschools.org. The historical list of announcements can be found on the HIGH SCHOOL > ANNOUNCEMENTS.

DEMOGRAPHIC UPDATES | LINK

Parents can update addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and emergency contact information on the Campus Parent Portal under the MORE section. ADDRESS INFORMATION, DEMOGRAPHICS, and FAMILY INFORMATION are the three (3) sections that allow you to make those changes. Updates are not immediate; the registrar’s office approves each submission.


DIGITAL BACKPACK | LINK

The Digital Backpack is a central hub for school sponsored, affiliated, and supported organizations; community organizations, programs, and camps; and curricular enhancement opportunities. The event flyer will stay posted on our site until the day of the event. Every Friday, an email will go out to our district families with the latest entries.


DIGITAL DEVICES FOR STUDENTS | LINK

Students taking academic courses at the high school will be given a digital device (laptop or Chromebook). The student along with a parent are required to watch a digital training video before receiving the device. Click HERE. Any damages to the device are the responsibility of the parent and student.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE PROGRAM | LINK

Pella High School Distinguished Service Program encourages students to volunteer in our community and school. Participation is not required. Those who choose to partake and who serve 100 hours or more throughout their four years at Pella High School will receive a Distinguished Service Award and a special cord to wear at graduation to denote their volunteerism.  Please contact Mrs. Manning for more information on logging hours.

DRIVER’S EDUCATION | LINK

Driver’s education is offered through Street Smarts LLC and classes are occasionally held at the Pella Community High School. Click on the link above to see the dates of course offerings and then register.

FOOD SERVICE | LINK

Students have the opportunity to eat breakfast and lunch at school by purchasing food in our Dutch Café. Students have a food service account and can use an assigned PIN# to pay for lunch or they can pay with cash. Adding money to a student’s food service account is done under FOOD SERVICE through the parent and/or student portal.

IMMUNIZATIONS | LINK

Anytime your child has updated immunizations, please provide them to the school nurse. All incoming 9th graders need to provide a dental screening and all 12th graders need the meningococcal immunization. Any questions regarding your child’s immunizations, please contact our nurse by emailing hsnurse@pellaschools.org or by calling 641-628-3870 x1604.

Get the Infinite Campus app for your phone or tablet. The Campus Parent and the Campus Student apps allows both you and your student to preview schedules, grades, attendance, assignments, and pay fees.

MENTAL HEALTH & WELL-BEING

The Pella High School Counseling Department is available to assist students and families in many life circumstances that could affect a student’s schooling. The services include academic assistance and planning, career and college planning, and personal or social situations. Students and parents are encouraged to contact the counseling office to assist with situations that arise. It is beneficial to the students when the staff and families can work together as a team. There are also many community resources the counseling staff may suggest for any further assistance needed. Here is the link for more information about the HS Counseling Office

OPEN CAMPUS

Juniors and seniors in high school may earn open campus privileges during the lunch period which means that students may leave the building and school grounds. Seniors who qualify for open campus may also leave the building and school grounds during their open period(s). During the online registration process, parents must mark YES or NO if their junior or senior student can have the open campus privilege once the student is eligible.

PELLA SCHOOLS iOS APP

Pella Schools’ events and food menus for all schools are viewable on this app for parents and students. This iOS app provides granular functionality in your calendar and menu viewing experience:

SCHOOL PERMIT | LINK

A school permit allows a student to drive from their home to their school of enrollment or activities at their school of enrollment using the most accessible route without parent supervision between 5:00 am - 10:00 pm. Students must be at least 14 ½ years old, have completed & passed an Iowa approved driver’s education course, and live 1 mile or more from school. SECURITY & SAFETY

Any visitor to Pella High School during the school day must get approved to visit school or attend a school-sponsored function.  Visitors, which include persons other than employees or students, must notify the principal of their presence in the facility upon arrival. All visitors entering the building during the school day are to check in at the front office.  Visitors will be issued a visitor pass and will be asked to check out of the office when leaving the building.

The Senior Bulletin contains college visit dates and information regarding scholarships and financial aid for seniors.

SMART LUNCH

Pella High School offers 2 sessions (iLearn A & iLearn B) during the lunch hour for students and teachers to meet to re-learn or re-take course content. A student scheduled for an iLearn must attend or they will be marked absent. Each Wednesday, all students will attend iLead during their grade’s designated session.

START & END TIMES

The school day for the high school begins at 8:10 am and ends at 3:23 pm. On early out Wednesdays, the school day ends at 1:45 pm.

STUDENT PARKING & PARENT DROP OFF MAP | LINK

STUDENT TECHNOLOGY CENTER

The STC serves our students and all of their technology needs from troubleshooting issues with student Chromebooks  to helping students with their usernames and passwords. The STC is located in room 1217 directly across the hallway from the library.

TEACHER OFFICE HOURS

All Pella High teachers have office hours before or after school.  The best time to meet with a teacher is during iLearn which takes place during the lunch hour and students can schedule the time through FlexiSched.

TRANSCRIPTS REQUEST ONLINE | LINK

Students and Alumni can request their high school transcripts to be sent to postsecondary institutions, employers, and for scholarship applications online. The Transcript Request Form can be found on our school website under HIGH SCHOOL, COUNSELING, then TRANSCRIPT REQUEST FORM.

TRANSFER STUDENTS

When students transfer to Pella High School, counselors analyze their transcripts to decide how the students’ previous schools’ classes meet our graduation requirements.  Students will be given credit for the classes they have taken, but the credit allocation is at the discretion of the counselors. For a previously taken class to be counted as a Pella High graduation requirement, the curriculum must cover the majority of our requirements.
