All practicum courses are graded on a Pass/Fail basis.
Pass = Meets 80% Proficiency Criteria for 100% of course assignments;
Fail = Does not meet criteria for one or more course assignments
To help you gauge your proficiency, review your progress within the course using the Canvas gradebook. Grades will be based on:
demonstrated effort in timely communication with your mentors and the instructor
creation of practicum based artifacts with reflection on ACVREP and AERBVI competencies
participation in artifact presentations, seminar discussions, and online discussion boards
The feedback on the Evaluation of Field Experience midpoint and final forms are critical to assessing the teacher candidate progress in the course, and those who demonstrate “unsatisfactory” in numerous competencies will need to meet with the course instructor and/or academic advisor to determine a plan for improvement. As with any program of study, if a candidate does not pass the practicum phase, they will not have completed PSU’s O&M program and will not be recommended for certification testing, nor will they be recommended for employment as an O&M Specialist.
