Confronting Antisemitism

The Holocaust Center for Humanity teaches the lessons of the Holocaust, inspiring students of all ages to confront bigotry and indifference, promote human dignity, and take action.

Confronting Antisemitism - (grades 7-12)

These guides are designed to facilitate student discussion and learning about fighting prejudice, responding to genocide, religion and identity, and other topics relevant today. The lessons use the Museum’s Voices on Antisemitism podcast to illustrate the existence and broad impact of modern-day antisemitism.

This lesson provides an opportunity for students to reflect on the importance of symbols in our society, understand more about specific hate symbols, and identify strategies for responding to and eliminating hate symbols.

Contemporary Antisemitism- a series of lessons: (grades 7-12)

Students investigate the ways in which old ideas about Jews and Judaism have given rise to new expressions of antisemitism and consider the interconnectedness of all forms of oppression. In addition, students are introduced to individuals who refuse to be bystanders.

The toolkit contains various resources for the prevention of anti-Semitism including the Choose Your Voice kit for students in Grades 6, 7 and 8. It is also adaptable for high school students, ESL and gifted learners and includes a DVD, Teacher’s Guide and lesson plans.

Feathers in the Wind: A Jewish American’s Story - This lesson plan “unpacks” stories told by Susan Stone, a professional storyteller.

Stories that allow students of all religious and cultural backgrounds to reflect on their own lives and to explore the impact of gossip and hurtful words.
