Awareness Campaign on “Marathi Bhasha Diwas
(27th February, 2025)
The Library Committee, in collaboration with the Students' Council, celebrated Marathi Bhasha Diwas on 27th February 2025, with 88 students attending the event. The celebration, led by Student Council Convenor Ms. Dhanashree Bhute, honored the Marathi language and its rich heritage, with a focus on the contributions of Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar (Kusumagraj) to Marathi literature.
The event included students wearing traditional Marathi attire, reciting poems, shlokas, and discussing the significance of Marathi Bhasha Diwas. Dr. D. S. Mhaske highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting the Marathi language and culture. The Librarian, Ms. Sunita Bhuiya, emphasized the value of the college library in accessing Marathi literary works and introduced online resources like pdfdrive.com, epustakalay.com, matrubharti.com, and bolipustak.com.
The celebration deepened students' appreciation for Marathi language and culture, sparked interest in Marathi literature, and provided valuable resources to further explore this heritage.

Pratishrut: The Annual Inter-Collegiate Fest
(17th -18th January, 2025)
The IQAC & Knowledge Resource Centre organized PRATISHRUT: The Annual Inter-Collegiate Fest on January 17-18, 2025, featuring four competitions: Elocution, PowerPoint Presentation, Book Review, and Bookmark Making. A total of 12 colleges and 52 students participated.
On January 18, the Library Knowledge Resource Centre hosted the Bookmark Making and Book Review Competitions, with the Book Review focusing on fiction and non-fiction books chosen by the participants.
The event provided a platform for students to showcase their talents, engage in healthy competition, and foster innovation. The best entries were awarded, with first-prize winners receiving cash prizes. PRATISHRUT successfully set a benchmark for an annual inter-collegiate event, promoting academic and extracurricular excellence while allowing students to develop skills and gain recognition.

Orientation Programme about NDLI Resources
(16th December, 2024, 10th & 13th January, 2025)
The Library Committee organized an Orientation Programme on National Digital Library of India (NDLI) Resources for F.Y.B.Com, F.Y.B. Com (MS), and F.Y.B.Com (B&I) students in December 2024 and January 2025. The Librarian provided step-by-step instructions on how to access NDLI resources through the College website or Google search. Students were guided on browsing NDLI resources, filtering by subjects, resource types, and educational levels, and exploring content from various providers such as NPTEL, Swayam Prabha, and Virtual Labs. The session also highlighted the wide range of materials available, including reference books, journals, and video lectures. Emphasizing the authenticity and reliability of NDLI resources, the Librarian encouraged students to use them for projects, assignments, and academic growth. The orientation was well-received, equipping students with valuable skills for utilizing the NDLI platform.

Vachan Sankalp Maharshatracha: a series of activities
(6th - 15th January, 2025)
The Library Committee, in alignment with the Government of Maharashtra's "Reading Resolution of Maharashtra" initiative, organized a series of activities from January 6 to January 15, 2025, aimed at promoting a reading culture, enhancing linguistic skills, and fostering a deeper connection with literature. The events included:
Library Cleaning on January 6, where NSS students participated in creating a clean and inviting library environment, fostering teamwork and responsibility.
A Book Exhibition on Marathi Literature on January 8, held for First Year students, which engaged them and promoted linguistic proficiency in line with the NEP 2020 initiative, Bhashik Kaushalyache Yojana.
An Oral Book Review Activity on January 10, conducted in collaboration with Dr. D. S. Mhaske, where F.Y.BCom (MS) students reviewed books in Marathi and Hindi, improving their speaking and comprehension skills.
A Group Reading Activity on January 15, where seven groups of F.Y.B.Com students engaged in reading Marathi books, fostering group learning and a deeper appreciation for Marathi literature.
These activities successfully promoted reading, linguistic development, and cultural understanding among students, aligning with both the "Reading Resolution of Maharashtra" and the broader objectives of the NEP 2020.

Visit to Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University at Nashik
(10th & 11th December, 2024)
The Library Committee organized a two-day educational and sightseeing visit for students to Nashik and Igatpuri on December 10th and 11th, 2024. The aim of the trip was to provide a balance of learning and recreation for the students.
The main objectives of the visit were to expose students to the academic environment at Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), explore historical and cultural sites like the Pandavleni Caves, foster teamwork through group activities, and offer relaxation through visits to natural spots such as Dhamma Giri and Bhavali Dam.
Throughout the trip, students learned about the open university system and its resources, gained insights into India’s cultural heritage, and developed social and teamwork skills. The visit also provided a refreshing break, allowing students to relax and recharge.

Publication Review - Review of an article for Kurukshetra & Yojana magazine
(7th December, 2024)
The Library Committee, in collaboration with the Department of Business Economics, organized a Publication Review competition on December 7, 2024, in the College conference room. The event focused on reviewing articles from Kurukshetra and Yojana magazines. The competition aimed to cultivate the habit of reading magazines to enhance knowledge and help students develop the ability to review articles and share meaningful insights.
Participants visited the library, selected articles of interest, and reviewed them, which helped sharpen their analytical skills and deepen their understanding of various topics. The participants expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to engage in focused reading, which improved both their subject awareness and critical thinking.

Online “Essay Writing Competition
(15th October, 2024)
The Library Committee organized an online Essay Writing Competition on 15th October 2024 to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Vachan Prerna Divas. The theme of the competition, “Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam – An Example to Follow,” encouraged students to reflect on his life, achievements, and inspirational contributions to the nation.
The aim of the competition was to help students explore Dr. Kalam’s remarkable contributions as a scientist, his vision for India’s progress, and his legacy as a youth icon and President. Students engaged enthusiastically with the topic, and their essays reflected how deeply they were inspired by Dr. Kalam’s humility, struggles, and dedication to the nation’s development.
Through this event, students gained valuable insights into Dr. Kalam’s life, learning from his perseverance and ideals. His legacy continues to inspire the youth, and the competition provided students with an opportunity to express their admiration for this extraordinary leader.

“Quotes that Inspire”
(15th October, 2024)
The Library Committee organized a special event on October 15th, 2024, to honor Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and celebrate Vachan Prerna Divas. The event focused on "Quotes that Inspire," encouraging students to reflect on and share Dr. Kalam's motivational words.
Students selected a meaningful quote by Dr. Kalam, read it aloud, and explained how it inspired them. The event not only celebrated Dr. Kalam’s legacy but also helped students improve their public speaking skills as they spoke confidently in front of an audience.
The main goal was to help students connect with Dr. Kalam's teachings, think about the values in his words, and understand how his wisdom can guide their lives. The activity also encouraged personal expression and boosted the confidence of the participants.

“Poetry Writing & Recitation Competition ”
(12th August, 2024)
The Library Committee, in collaboration with Patuck-Gala College of Commerce and Public Night Degree College, organized a “Poetry Writing & Recitation Competition” on 12th August 2024, to celebrate the birth anniversary of Padmashree Dr. Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan, the father of Library Science. The event took place at Patuck-Gala College Library.
A total of 21 students participated: 10 from Patuck-Gala College, 7 from Mahendra Pratap Sharada Prasad Singh College, and 4 from Public Night Degree College. The poems were written in English, Hindi, and Marathi, offering a rich diversity of themes and styles. The competition provided an opportunity for students to express themselves artistically, with each poem reflecting their unique perspectives and emotions. The passion and energy during the recitations captivated the audience, transforming the event into a vibrant celebration of creativity.

Orientation Programme on Bibliotherapy for first year B.Com, BMS & B.Com.(B&I) (August, 2024)
The Librarian visited First Year B.Com, BMS, and B.Com (B&I) classrooms from 2nd to 7th August 2024 to introduce students to the Library Committee's Bibliotherapy services, aimed at promoting student well-being. Using a Smart class presentation, the Librarian explained the purpose, process, and benefits of bibliotherapy, showcasing a selection of books categorized for therapeutic reading. The importance of confidentiality in the student-Librarian relationship was emphasized to ensure a supportive environment. By the end of the session, students gained a deeper understanding of how bibliotherapy can help them navigate challenges through the therapeutic power of reading.

Orientation Programme about Library, iOPAC and Bibliotherapy (July & August, 2024)
The Library Committee organized an “Orientation Programme about Library & iOPAC Facility” for B.Com, BMS, and B.Com (Banking & Insurance) students from 18th July to 2nd August 2024. The Librarian introduced students to the library's collections, including textbooks, reference materials, magazines, journals, and online resources, and explained the available services such as book borrowing, the Book Bank Scheme, and access to tablets, computers, and Kindle for e-book reading. Students were also informed about library services, including demand slips, WhatsApp updates, email notifications, and reader’s membership for alumni and outsiders. Additionally, students were guided on the use of iOPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) for accessing both physical and online collections, and introduced to Open Educational Resources (OER) for free access to a wide range of materials.
