Foreign Language Club visits The Big Apple

by Kaleb Anderson

The Foreign Language Club recently took a field trip to the Big Apple. Students in Foreign Language Club spent April 26th and April 27th in New York City, visiting many sites like the 9/11 Memorial and Chinatown. Those in attendance were able to experience the vibrant culture and aesthetic of America’s biggest city

Students left the High School at 7:30 and after seven and a half hours arrived in New York at around 3:00. After arriving in New York City the foreign language club utilized a tour guide from Jumpstreet Tours. That day saw students either visiting the Skyscape Museum or Central Park. Spyscape, as the name implies, is a museum centered around the art of espionage and spies. Afterwards Students ate dinner at Havana Central

The Students final activity was the opportunity to spend an hour in Times Square, shopping or walking around and seeing the sights.

The following day, students saw a number of different features in New York City. Battery Park, the Staten Island Ferry, Liberty and Ellis Island, Brookfield Place and the 9/11 Memorial. The latter was notably a very solemn moment and was one of the last places that the Foreign Language Club visited.

“It was pretty emotional but it was also a good thing for me, that museum helped me realize how much suffering and pain and hurt there is in the world” said Emmet Jamieson

Chinatown and Little Italy were the last two places of visitation, with students able to see and explore historic neighborhoods. Students left between 3 and 4 and arrived back in Punxsutawney around midnight.
