Art Club heading to Pittsburgh on May 17th

by Kaleb Anderson

On May 17th, Art Club 9-12 will be taking a trip to Pittsburgh for its second, smaller field trip this year. Students will be participating in an event called “Painting with a twist” where pupils will be able to participate in step by step painting, coming home with a piece of Art that they painted.

Out of a huge amount of paintings, the Art Club chose to do two paintings: Sandy Sunset and Monet’s Red Bridge.

Roughly 75 students will be participating in the trip, accompanied by 5 chaperones. Departure from the High School will be at 8:00 AM. Charter buses will not be used, instead the Art Club will be utilizing two average school buses for transportation. Following a meal at The Golden Corral, Art Club will leave Pittsburgh at 4:30.

The event that Art Club will be attending, Painting with a Twist is a less serious event wherein instructors assist pupils in creating a unique and fun piece of Art. Since 2007, Painting with a Twist has created over 11,189,000 paintings. They are spread throughout 38 States.

“The kids are going to be learning a lot of painting techniques and they get a finished piece of art to take home, which is the best part” said Art Teacher Christina Young.
