Field Day may be on the brink of getting taken away

by Louise Bennett

Field Day has been a tradition for as long as students can remember, but not very many students know Field Day behind-the-scenes. Student Council holds Field Day every year from profit made at Homecoming and Formal. After issues at last year’s event, there was discussion within Student Council to not have a Field Day this year.

Many students, outside of Student Council Representatives, have no idea that these discussions took place. Last year, security problems arose when people were present that should not have been there. Students were not made aware of this occurrence after Field Day, and it came to a shock to all the Representatives that it put Field Day in jeopardy.

After unanimous agreement with Representatives to hold a Field Day, there was debate to only hold a Flex Day Field Day. Field Day would have been reduced down to a few hours instead of a full school day affair.

But, once again, Representatives did not like this idea. Their duty is to represent their constituents, and they did not think anyone would like the idea of only half a day for Field Day. Therefore, the representatives voiced their concerns, and they came to an agreement for a full day Field Day.

Field Day will be held for freshmen through seniors on June 4th in the stadium and practice field. While the setup is going to be different this year, there is going to be a Field Day. It is going to be a fun-filled day, and there is only about a month left until it is finally here.
