In consideration of the quality of the internet connection of faculty-participants, the training shall be of two (2) methods:
This is suited for those with a strong and consistent internet connection. Faculty-participants are required to log in at a particular schedule to listen to a lecture, workshop/ write shop session, or presentation and critiquing of outputs. This is advantageous to those who want to be guided with online teaching every step of the way because the trainer is available and can facilitate answering queries, comments, and suggestions in real-time. This likewise provides an opportunity for participants to learn from and/or comment on each other’s outputs.
This is suited for those with an intermittent internet connection. Faculty-participants are not required to be online simultaneously. They can open the training site anytime and work on a particular training module online or offline. If the internet is intermittent, participants can download the materials provided in the module and then go back online for uploading of outputs, or posting comments. Materials can be readings, videos, PowerPoints, podcasts, etc.
In both methods, teacher-participants are expected to check into the training site regularly. The Project Team will monitor the progress of participants. The training will issue a Certificate of Completion after an assessment of participation and quality of outputs of the participant.
A Team of Trainers is composed of PSU teachers who have been using online and distance learning in the past semesters. Some have completed a number of courses offered by the UPOU Massive Online and Distance e-Learning (MODeL) Program.
Participants shall receive a Certificate of Completion for every module if the requirements have been completed satisfactorily as recommended by the Team of Trainers. These certificates shall form part of the documents required for FY 2021 clearances.
The training program shall start with an Orientation Webinar. Although the program is designed to be largely asynchronous, mid-training webinars will be scheduled to address difficulties of participants in the course of their participation. For those who need basic training on using the computer and ICT tools, an introductory course will be provided before the concerned faculty joins the training proper.
Modules will be opened at the training website one after the other. A faculty would be able to finish each module in one week or less depending on the amount of time spent on the module activities per day. Each module will be available in a duration of 30 days.
