Community Service vs. Volunteering
Community Service is non-paid work for the benefit of a local community. It is typically project based and supervised where one can acquire life-long skills, gain knowledge and increase civic engagement with the intention of fulfilling an obligation for an organized group, club, institution, school or other program.
Volunteerism is non-paid work for the pure benefit of helping a person, organization or community. Volunteerism is conducted during one's own free time and often promotes responsibility and empathy. *Volunteerism does not always apply to service hours.
