Conceptual Chemistry
Year Overview
This week we will get started with cirriclium! The stuff we learn is HERE on my website, and due dates for the WHOLE UNIT are on Schoology.
Year Overview
The basic concepts of all science as well as a discussion of matter. These basic ideas, while mostly review, will be used throughout the year as the foundation for what we learn about chemistry and science as a profession.
In this unit we will learn about the internal structure of an atom: its parts and how they work together to make all of the elements on and periodic table. Later, we will discuss how atoms can change over time and the tool they use to make those changes: radiation!
In this Unit we will explore how individual atoms can bond together to form compounds, and later how those compounds can interact with one another in chemical reactions. This can be an exciting unit where you can really get your hands dirty!
In our final unit of the semester we will explore how substances can change between different states of matter: solids, liquids, and gasses, as well as how the properties of substances in those different states can change.
