About the Class

Chemistry is the study of matter in the universe, and how it interacts with other matter and energy to form new substances. Our exploration of chemistry will start with the basics of science, like measurement, work through basic atomic structure, and then move into bonding and chemical reactions where things start to get really interesting!

We will learn chemistry using a methodology know as Mastery Learning. This teaching and learning strategy links the drive and progress of learning to the individual needs of each student. You will be able to access all the course content throughout the year, and you will progress through it at a rate that best matches your learning style. Each topic will consist of videos, practice, lab activities, and a quiz at the end to test your understanding. Via regular check-ins with me we will track your progress together, addressing your needs throughout. When you feel ready, you will try the section quiz. Mastery means getting at least. 90% score on that quiz, but don't worry if you don't. We just identified some shortcoming in your understanding! We will go back, review that content, and you can try again when you are ready!
