Education
I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Delaware in Newark, DE. Upon completion of that degree I moved to Boston and received a Master of Education degree in Secondary Science Education from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA.
Since completing my last degree I have attended numerous seminars and programs concerning education, chemistry and environmental science in an effort to sustain and update my knowledge base. I have also maintained an active membership in the American Chemical Society which is an organization designed to be a meeting place for researchers and educators to share information and experience with one another.
Professional Experience
My career began working as a Synthetic Organic Chemist for the pharmaceutical firm, AstraZeneca where I worked in their central nervous division trying to devise new treatments for migraines. After a few years my attention shifted to education. During my college career I worked as a teaching assistant for some of the beginning chemistry classes and loved the work. This brought me to Boston and Boston College where I continued working as a teaching assistant in general biology and organic chemistry labs while I was working towards my Master's degree.
