Choice Board: Dog Photography
This assignment taught me about capturing a live, uncooperative subject. My favorite of the series is the one of the little white dog looking through the fence because of the shadow the fence casts. The idea came to me one morning when I woke up, the first thing I did after a cup of coffee was grab my camera and take some photos just for fun, and I ended up being able to submit them for the free week on Choice Board #2. I think it was pretty successful for my first venture in dog photography.
This assignment taught me the versatility of simple things that can be found at my desk. For this assignment, I only moved about 3 feet in any given direction. My favorite of the series is Among The Files, because I like that it displays both the internal and external part of the hard drive. I got the idea simply by looking about my desk for what I could make versatile.
This assignment taught me about making food look as appealing as possible using a low f-stop. My favorite of these is the Everything Popcorn photo, because of the warm bokeh light behind the image. My most prominent challenge was photographing actual meals, because that day, I mostly grazed on popcorn and iced coffee (the meal plan of champions.) The idea was laid out for me by the assignment, and while it's not my best assignment, I think I was fairly successful. The assignment was also a great practice in macro photography.
This assignment continued my learning in capturing delicate arts in addition to using new perspectives. For this challenge I tried to use multiple perspectives, and I layed under the glass dining table to get one I'd never tried before. My main challenge was here, in avoiding a reflection from the light hitting the glass, so I had to be cautious of the angles I shot from. My favorite of the images are either Delicate Machinery or the Clips From Under the Table because they're perspectives I don't usually try. I got the idea one night when my Mom was finishing up a couple masks in an order. This one was very fun, and I think it was successful.
