I'm a photography student at Cody High School. I live in Cody, Wyoming, and outside of Broadcast and Photography, I participate in several school clubs and activities (NHS, TLC, YFJ, etc), tennis, and figure skating.
I've been behind the camera filming in CHS Wired Broadcast Journalism since my freshman year, but this, my junior year, is my first of photography. Photography 1 has not only helped me with my understanding of the camera itself, but what I create with it; composition to exposure, film to photo. I've become more familiar with Adobe Photoshop, and in practical measures like file management, organization, and processing. I'm glad to have been able to hone my photography as not just an individual skill, but another piece of the storytelling puzzle.
I hope this new skill will enable me to tell stories in several mediums, thus helping me reach a broader audience with the issues and news they need exposure to most. I'm passionate about most things under the umbrella of new media, from video editing to writing, but my most experienced area is film. I hope to major in broadcast journalism and minor in either film, foreign language, or sociology in college.
This class has helped immensely in building a portfolio and figuring out a path going into my senior year. Additionally, the assignments under quarantine have made me more resourceful and versatile.
