Parent Contribution is invaluable to the school’s success. We see parents as partners in the education of the students and understand that home, school, and community each plays a key role in the development of children. At the start of the academic year, parents will have the opportunity to complete a family registration form to indicate interest in volunteering or sharing personal expertise with the school. The list of potential volunteers will be reviewed against the selection criteria for each specific activity, and parents will be contacted as the need arises.
Note that in accordance with the school safeguarding and Personal Data Protection, we might ask volunteers to provide supplemental information such as background checks.
Parents may wish to contribute to the school as follows:
Guest Speaker: Parents who have a special skill that may be of interest and benefit our students may be invited to join a class for a lesson or activity. Examples may be storytelling, health care, cooking, handicrafts or clothes making.
Active Listener: In this programme, parents give some time each week to help with students’ reading from K2 and up. It doesn’t have to be in your own child’s classroom.
School Committee: At times, we will send an invitation for parents to join a school committee with teachers and staff to share ideas and discuss various matters such as the Health and Safety committee, child protection committee, school accreditation, etc.
Classroom Representative: We ask for one parent rep per homeroom. This person will manage a class Line group, help to remind parents of special events, and help to organise class parties. They can work with the classroom teachers to determine additional avenues for supporting the class.
After-School Clubs: Parents are welcome to propose running an after school club or sport. Opportunities to do so are announced prior to the start of the season, and parents are paid for their service according to the club's policy.
Friends of Panyaden (FoP): All parents and guardians are members of this parent group dedicated to the exchange of information related to the school’s improvement, organising parent-run events, supporting parents new to the community, and helping to build a bridge between the parent and school community, and organising fun activities with other families. Meetings are held regularly, and minutes will be shared for those who cannot attend. Parent participation is welcome in many forms, whether regularly engaging or occasionally joining in on key initiatives.
