CPFA Theatre Department Chair and Chapter Advisor for the CPFA Thespian Honor Society
Jason Greenfield is the Program Chair of the CPFA Theatre Department and has been a dedicated member of the faculty since 2011. He teaches Acting Intensive, Acting for the Camera, Acting Technique & Expression, and Directing & Theatre Production, guiding students through rigorous, conservatory-style training that emphasizes both craft and play. He has directed more than twenty-five CPFA productions, including Hamlet and Dancing at Lughnasa (both GPC Cappies nominees for Best Play), Three Sisters, The Illusion, and numerous other classical and contemporary works. He also serves as the Troupe Director of the CPFA Thespian Society.
Mr. Greenfield received his M.F.A. in Acting from the UCLA School of Theatre, Film, and Television, where he studied under Tony Award winner Mel Shapiro. He earned his B.A. in Theatre Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating cum laude with distinction in Theatre. His professional training includes study at the British American Drama Academy in London; HB Studio in New York with Tony Award nominee Austin Pendleton; Salome Jens’ private acting studio in Los Angeles; and Stuart Rogers’ Studios in North Hollywood. As a director, he studied with Michael McLain at UCLA and online with Samantha Wyer Bello through the Shakespeare Theatre Company. As a teacher of acting, he completed the Hagen Teacher’s Lab at HB Studio under Broadway actor Mark Nelson and renowned teacher Carol Rosenfeld, and trained in acting pedagogy at Stuart Rogers’ Studios. He is a certified Assistant Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework® and a certified teacher of Knight-Thompson Speechwork.
As a performer, Mr. Greenfield most recently appeared in the solo play An Iliad at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Some additional acting credits include Hamlet and As You Like It (Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre), Everybody Loves Opal (Montgomery Theatre), A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Fashion, and The Ride Down Mt. Morgan (Theatricum Botanicum), and The Illusion (Open Fist Theatre). He is a member of Actors’ Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA.
Mr. Greenfield has previously taught theatre at Albright College, Los Angeles Southwest College, Antelope Valley College, the Arden Theatre, and the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum. He currently resides in West Chester, Pennsylvania, with his wife and daughter.
CPFA Film and Media Instructor
Mr. Jonathan Council is an artist and filmmaker who uses visual storytelling to challenge conventions and reimagine the possibilities of film, animation, and interactive media. Jonathan currently serves as a Film Teacher at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts since 2019, where he leads courses in Digital Media Arts, Film and Media Production, Screenwriting, Film Analysis, and Directing Techniques. In addition, he acts as Film and Video Specialist, producing marketing content, managing the video wall, and supporting school programming.
Jonathan holds a Master of Arts in MediaXArts: Cinema for New Technologies and Environments from Temple University, where he graduated in 2019. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Film and Media Studies from Franklin and Marshall College in 2017. His academic background in both psychology and media informs his artistic practice and his role as a teacher, combining an understanding of human behavior with advanced technical and narrative skills to create meaningful and innovative visual experiences for his students.
Jonathan has written, directed, and produced a wide range of films and installations that explore both human experience and experimental storytelling. His films include Colonization, a finalist for the NYC International Infest Festival and selectee at Indie X Film Festival, as well as poetic and experimental works like Travel, Flare, and Close Your Eyes. He has also created interactive and immersive installations such as Pieces of Voice, Statues in Light, and Image, which incorporate video, augmented reality, and participatory game elements to invite audiences into unique, reflective experiences.
CPFA Musical Theatre Instructor
Brigitte Rottman is a Philadelphia-based theatre music director and vocal coach residing in Chester County. She has performed professionally since her teenage years, beginning her career as a stage show pianist for Prince of Fundy Cruise Lines. She studied piano and voice at West Chester University and Westminster Choir College and has since built a distinguished career as a music director, accompanist, and educator.
At CPFA, Mrs. Rottman has been an integral part of the Musical Theatre program for more than a decade, serving as classroom accompanist, middle school play director, and music director for every musical production at the school. Her longstanding involvement reflects a deep commitment to student growth, musical excellence, and collaborative storytelling.
Beyond CPFA, Mrs. Rottman has music directed for People’s Light Theatre Company, Theatre Horizon, Gretna Theatre, Power Street Theatre, and productions at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Her credits include Into the Woods, Gypsy, Pippin, Head Over Heels, Mamma Mia, Little Women, City of Angels, Tick, Tick, Boom!, Urinetown, Little Shop of Horrors, and Sweeney Todd. Mrs. Rottman has also been part of two world premieres of new musicals in 2024 and 2025 (Siluetas and Wishing to Grow Up Brightly). She is also a proud CPFA parent, with a long-standing connection to the school community.
