Week beginning - Monday 13th October 2025
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
We have finished the term just how we started, with an eagerness to learn and wonderful enthusiasm. We were all very excited when Dr Allan came to visit our classes last week to teach us all how to be healthy. We got such a wonderful surprise this week when a letter arrived in the post from Dr Allan thanking us for having her visit. We have worked hard throughout the week composing and writing responses to Dr Allan. Our maths lessons this week had us exploring number bonds to ten and number bonds within 10. We used ten frames, double-sided counters and multi-link to make the various bonds and worked hard to record this knowledge in the form of addition number sentences. We were delighted to welcome Mrs Coulstock into school on Thursday, who ran two wonderful workshops linked to her work at The Royal Engineers Museum. We explored the inspirational lives of Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole and made our own clay medals linked to Remembrance. The children had a fantastically creative day! To finish off the term and tie our learning together, the children spent the afternoon performing first aid on their teddy bears. They thought about possible playground injuries their teddies could experience, then followed the correct steps and used appropriate first aid equipment to tend to their injured teddies. The children thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon! As our first term in Year 1 draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to express how proud we are of the children. They have settled into their new year group beautifully and have blown us away with their knowledge, enthusiasm for learning, hard work and creativity. We hope you all have a wonderful break and a well-deserved rest. We look forward to seeing you all in the new term!
