Week beginning - Monday 2nd March 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
Another SATs practice week down, and that's our last before the real assessments in May! Of course, we will continue with our weekly arithmetic practice assessments and our revision will begin to ramp up even more, but it's our last structured week practice for this group of year 6s!
As a result, booster sessions will be booked in soon, for a selection of children who have been chosen to have a little extra support. We would also encourage parents to do some practice at home, revision guides, apps, websites and YouTube videos can all be helpful for this!
In inquiry this week, we have continued to look at the reasons for the outbreak of WWII and have written a newspaper article on this. Through our writing, we have been able to practice using direct and indirect (reported) speech, formal language, writing in the 3rd person and the format of a newspaper (title, subtitles, bylines, introduction etc). 6D & 6S their first NELFT workshops, looking at friendships and how to navigate difficulties.
6C
This week, you have been a great thinker when completing your assessments. You have clearly understood what caused the outbreak of World War 2 and have begun to report this well through your newspaper.
6S
This week, you have been extremely adaptable with our change in routine and you have shown how you persevere and are resilient in the face of practice papers. Well done for your hard work and ability to take risks when looking for answers to tricky questions.
6D
Not only have you been knowledgeable and resilient with our assessments but you have been a superbly caring and reflective friend who has supported your classmates to reach their best. They have even commented on how supportive this has been.
6C
Your confidence is growing and this down to your hard work. Well done!
6S
Well done for being an amazing listener, confident reader and willing to take risks.
6D
You've been enthusiastic and engaged with our new reader - reading out loud and asking questions.
