Week beginning - Monday 2nd March 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
What a wonderful week of inquiry and learning we have had in Early Years! As part of our learning, we have been inquiring into the work of Mary Anning and the fossils she discovered. The children were inspired by her curiosity, resilience and determination. Through our play and investigations, we became fossil preparators, carefully examining and identifying different fossils. The children used their problem-solving skills and prior knowledge to decide which fossil belonged to which creature, demonstrating fantastic thinking skills and collaboration.
In RE, we have been reflecting on acts of kindness. The children shared thoughtful ideas about how they can show kindness in the classroom, playground and at home, demonstrating their understanding of being caring and principled members of our community. In maths, we have been exploring the composition of numbers 9 and 10. Through hands-on activities, we have been building, representing and subitising numbers to 10. The children have been explaining their thinking and exploring different ways to make 10. In phonics, we have been learning the sounds ie and igh. The children have been applying their phonics knowledge beautifully in their writing across all areas of provision. We are so proud of how they are becoming increasingly independent and confident writers.
On Friday, we had a fantastic celebration for World Book Day. The costume parade was a joyful opportunity for the children to express themselves and share their love of stories. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into creating such wonderful costumes, it truly enriched the experience for everyone.
A gentle reminder that reading books are changed on Mondays and library books are changed on Fridays. Thank you for your continued support in your child’s learning journey.
