Week beginning - Monday 2nd March 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
This week in Year 5, the pupils have been busy developing their writing skills by creating their own non-chronological reports. They began by researching and describing different habitats before exploring the life cycles and food chains of animals that live within them. It has been wonderful to see the children organising their information clearly and using subject-specific vocabulary to explain how living things survive in their environments.
In maths, we have been focusing on increasing our fluency and accuracy in arithmetic, revisiting many of the key skills we have learned so far this year. The pupils have been practising a range of calculation methods and building confidence in applying them quickly and correctly.
During computing lessons, the children have been learning more about coding using “if–then” commands. They have been creating their own games where instructions allow a sprite to move around a maze, helping them understand how conditional statements control what happens in a program.
It has been another productive and engaging week in Year 5, and we are very proud of the effort the pupils are showing across their learning.
