March Pillar of the Month - Fairness
Dear Families,
This month, we are focusing on fairness, an important value that helps students learn how to treat others with respect, make thoughtful decisions, and understand that everyone deserves to be treated kindly and equally. When students practice fairness, they learn to consider others’ feelings, take turns, and make choices that are just and respectful.
What We’re Learning at School

Students are learning that showing fairness means:
Taking turns and sharing with others
Listening to different opinions, even if they disagree
Playing by the rules and including others
Treating everyone with kindness and respect
Solving problems in a way that feels fair to everyone
Being honest and taking responsibility for their actions
Understanding that fairness doesn’t always mean “everyone gets the same,” but that everyone gets what they need
Speaking up or asking for help when something feels unfair
Thinking about how their actions affect others
Reflecting on situations and considering what a fair choice would be
Ways Families Can Support Fairness at Home
Encourage turn-taking during games and daily activities
Talk about what is fair and unfair in real-life situations
Model fairness by listening to your child’s perspective and explaining decisions
Use everyday moments (sharing, conflicts) to ask, “What would be the fair thing to do?”
Reinforce kindness, honesty, and respect toward others
Help your child understand others’ feelings by asking, “How would you feel?”
Set clear and consistent rules so expectations feel fair
Encourage problem-solving instead of blaming
Praise your child when they make fair and kind choices

Estimadas familias,
Este mes nos estamos enfocando en la equidad, un valor importante que ayuda a los estudiantes a aprender a tratar a los demás con respeto, tomar decisiones pensadas y entender que todos merecen ser tratados con amabilidad y justicia. Cuando los estudiantes practican la equidad, aprenden a considerar los sentimientos de los demás, tomar turnos y hacer elecciones justas y respetuosas.

Reforzar la amabilidad, la honestidad y el respeto hacia los demás
Ayudar a su hijo/a a entender los sentimientos de otros preguntando: “¿CĂłmo te sentirĂas?”
Establecer reglas claras y consistentes para que las expectativas sean justas
Fomentar la resoluciĂłn de problemas en lugar de culpar
Elogiar a su hijo/a cuando tome decisiones justas y amables
