Pillar of the Month: Friendship

Dear Families,
This month, our character education focus is on Friendship, one of the most important values in building a caring and respectful school community. When students practice friendship, they learn how to form positive connections, work together, and support one another. 

What We’re Learning at School
Students are learning that being a good friend means:

• Using kind words and actions toward others.

• Including others during play and group activities.

• Helping and supporting friends when they need it.

• Showing empathy by understanding how others might feel.

Ways Families Can Support Friendship at Home

• Talk with your child about what it means to be a good friend.

• Encourage your child to include others in games and activities.

• Model friendly behavior by showing kindness and respect in your interactions.

• Praise your child when they demonstrate helpful, supportive, and empathetic behaviors toward friends.

Queridas familias,
Este mes, nuestro enfoque en la educación del carácter es la Amistad, uno de los valores más importantes para construir una comunidad escolar respetuosa y solidaria. Cuando los estudiantes practican la amistad, aprenden a formar conexiones positivas, trabajar juntos y apoyarse mutuamente.

Lo que estamos aprendiendo en la escuela
Los estudiantes están aprendiendo que ser un buen amigo significa:

• Usar palabras y acciones amables hacia los demás.

• Incluir a otros durante el juego y actividades grupales.

• Ayudar y apoyar a los amigos cuando lo necesitan.

• Mostrar empatía al comprender cómo se sienten los demás.

Formas en que las familias pueden fomentar la amistad en casa

• Hablar con su hijo sobre lo que significa ser un buen amigo.

• Animar a su hijo a incluir a otros en juegos y actividades.

• Modelar comportamientos amistosos mostrando amabilidad y respeto en sus interacciones.

• Elogiar a su hijo cuando demuestre comportamientos útiles, solidarios y empáticos hacia sus amigos.
