Students showed strong self-discipline while reading fantasy stories by going back into the text to determine who the narrator is. They focused on identifying pronouns and used them as clues to understand who is telling the story. This careful thinking and attention to detail helped them strengthen their comprehension skills and become more independent readers.
Students showed strong reflective thinking when sequencing a story in the correct order of events. They went back to reread their work and checked to make sure their first, next, then, last graphic organizer was accurate and followed the story in the correct sequence. This reflection helped them make thoughtful corrections and strengthen their understanding of the text.

Our Language Policy
Our first graders have been showing incredible self-discipline and growing as reflective learners each day. They take time to think about their choices, discuss whether they are making good choices, and practice how to fix their choices through different scenarios and role-play.
During turn and talks, students demonstrated strong self-discipline by giving each other a fair chance to speak, listening carefully, and building on one another’s ideas. When working with partners, they continued to show kindness and respect by using thoughtful, kind words with their classmates. I am so proud of the way they are learning to communicate, reflect, and support one another!
During our Black History Month presentation practice, our first graders truly demonstrated self-discipline while preparing for our Lean on Me song. They worked hard to learn and practice the lyrics, sang together as a team, and listened carefully to their teachers’ directions. Students showed focus, cooperation, and responsibility throughout rehearsals, making adjustments and supporting one another along the way. Their dedication and teamwork helped them put on an amazing show that they can all be proud of!
