Class Description
The 7th grade design curriculum deepens students’ understanding of the Elements and Principles of Design through advanced visual problem-solving and communication challenges. Students will use Canva, sketchbooks, and a variety of design media to explore how artists and designers use color theory, line, balance, and composition to convey ideas effectively.
Projects will center around advertising and visual storytelling, allowing students to apply creativity to real-world objectives such as promoting events, products, or causes. Students will learn how designers address problems through creative solutions that consider audience, message, and aesthetic appeal. Emphasis will be placed on the design process—brainstorming, planning, building, revising, and presenting final work.
By the end of the course, students will have a portfolio of both hand-drawn and digital projects demonstrating thoughtful design thinking and creative growth.
