Class Description
The 7th grade visual art curricula has been designed to provide students with advanced immersion into artistic practice a and comprehensive artistic experience. The yearlong course will be focused on enhancing visual and perceptual awareness, developing technical skills across a variety of media and disciplines, and fostering a deep appreciation for art and the creative process. In addition, students will complete a variety of creative exercises and projects to allow opportunities for personal interpretation and to explore their own solutions to visual problems. The 7th grade art class will also explore art-making beyond the classroom through museum visits, art walks, neighborhood explorations, and sketchbook assignments. Students will leave the course with diverse portfolio of work that can be used in application to arts based high schools and a deeper understanding of themselves as artists.
