A very short term but with plenty of impact!
It was a pleasure to share the pupils' attainment and progress in our meetings with teachers at the start of the term. This was an opportunity to highlight the individual success and achievement of each child with their parents and carers. These meetings offer a protected time to ask questions and to learn about focus areas which can be further supported at home. It was wonderful to see so many parents and carers attending.
A HUGE shout-out to our wonderful Year 6 pupils who completed their SATS. They have worked incredibly hard in preparation for the tests, showing commitment, determination, positivity and resilience. Everyone wanted to do their absolute best and we are exceptionally proud of them all. Huge thanks to our amazing Year 6 staff team who have given our pupils the BEST possible chance to do well.
We have ended the term by coming off-timetable to celebrate Diversity, embracing and valuing the unique differences that make each individual special. Our aim has been to foster inclusivity and create a school community where everyone feels valued and respected. It has been a privilege to share all we have achieved during our Open Learning afternoon as we close the term.
Have a well-deserved break and we will see you on Monday 2 June for the final part of the academic year and the very last term of primary school for our Year 6 pupils.
Mrs Campbell
What a term! It has been a short one but has been jam-packed with great learning, excellent trips, amazing examples of friendship and children Being Their Best!
There have been several trips this term, one of which was Year 5 visiting Dungeness. The children (and adults) had a great time and were all smiling, telling me about the great things that they did on the day.
We launched our new 15-day attendance streak this term and it has been fantastic! Children's individual and the whole school attendance has been getting better everyday! Thank you all for your support. We are going to be adding in new prizes for children to choose from, including non-uniform day and bring your teddy to school vouchers for those children when they hit the 15th day of their streak. Let's make next term's attendance the best of the year!
Well done to our athletics superstars. This term we sent two teams to Sandown School to represent OVPA and they did us proud. Every child tried their best in the huge range of events they took part in and were fantastic. Both our Year 3/4 and our Year 5/6 team represented the school amazingly well and did themselves and us proud!.
Not only do we have budding athletics stars but future golf pro's. Four of our Year 6 children had the chance to take part in the Primary Crazy Golf competition and they all had a fantastic time trying to get a hole in one.
Open Learning afternoon is always one of my favourite times of the year! It is lovely to see the children so excited to share their learning with the adults that come in to see them and this Friday was no different. The pride on the adults' faces was a pleasure to see.
I hope that you all have a great half term and I look forward to seeing everyone at the start of the final term of the year!

Dear all
This last term has gone by in a flash, or so it seems.
For those studying and taking their SATs I am sure it has felt like an eternity. But, when you look back, it will be a short time in your lives, but an important one, as you move up in your academic careers. I was asked by Mrs Campbell to join in the morning of the pupils' last SATs - what a wonderful privilege for me to be with them and to also see the level of preparation that goes into the start of their day. I had the opportunity to speak to many of them - their confidence was quite something else and a real testimony of how their teachers have built them up to this point.
Almost all of the children sitting their SATs have been at the school since the start of their primary years. The school prepares them for not only this, but helps give them the opportunity, resilience and expansion of mind that is so vital to success, however it is measured. This should give all those rising up in the school years, and potential new joiners, a huge amount of confidence in what this school delivers.
Much has been going on throughout the school this term and I am sure this short break comes just at the right time as you all get your "second wind" and head into the final term. In closing, I would also like to add a huge congratulations and thank you to everyone for the effort that has gone into school attendance - being in school with your classmates and teachers is all what learning is about!
Enjoy the break and look forward to what is to come!
