Year 3 & 4 were lucky enough to have a food tasting experience. Caterlink - our catering company - gave us the opportunity to learn about our taste buds and the four different types of taste we have: sweet, sour, bitter and salty. We also learned about how our sight can affect how we perceive food - we all thought the red jelly was strawberry, when in fact it was orange. It was a really fun afternoon and a wonderful opportunity.
This term in art we learned about an artist called Thirza Schaap. She used waste products to create sculptures inspired by nature. Her sculptures sent messages about the importance of looking after our planet, and recylcing when we can. We had a go at creating our own using recycled materials. Can you guess what our animals are?
This term we really enjoyed our geography topic. We looked at pollinators, in particular bees. We spoke about how our local area has changed over time and the impact this has had on pollinators.
In our science learning we explored our school site and discussed the different habitats our school has for different creatures. We linked this to our geography learning and discussed improvements we could make to OVPA to help make it a welcoming home to pollinators.
This term in Talk for Writing, we have been learning all about the magical world of Harry Potter!
After learning about this, strange things started to occur at OVPA......
There were reports of strong, awful smells, green slime being left along corridors and creatures caught on CCTV!
The children got to work collecting evidence, and wrote their own newspaper reports to warn the public.
Dolphin and Belugas were lucky enough to have whole class forest school this term. We got to experience the outdoors together, and enjoyed s'mores around the camp fire! What an amazing opportunity this is, and we are so grateful to Mr Bula-Edge for this.
