The Council meets monthly to develop and refine learning garden policies and systems, review and approve project proposals and ensure oversight and sustainability of all school learning gardens
The OUSD Garden Council is an interdepartmental District team made up of folks from Risk, Buildings and Grounds, The Education Programming Team @ The Center, Facilities, Sustainability, and Custodial
Any project that includes a new garden, a garden expansion, a permanent structure build, or tree plantings
A large scale project that involves any of the following:
1) Budget over $5,000
2) Infrastructure renovations such as removal of
asphalt or concrete, in ground plumbing, electrical
lines, etc.
3) Permanent structure builds such as fencing, shade
structures or gazebos
4) Any project that impinges or is planned on a school
site which is scheduled for a B&G improvement
project or a facilities renovation
This will be at most a 30 minute presentation that includes a 5-10 minute presentation by a school site representative (slide decks help) and a 5-20 minute Q&A session.
The more thorough you are, the more likely the Council will have all of the information they need to make a decision about your proposed project. Be as thorough as possible and make sure to upload a project plan.
You will receive an email from Kat.Romo@ousd.org outlining next steps, questions, and/or granting approval within 7 days of the Garden Council meeting
