Three Reads

Three Reads is a strategy designed to increase students’ access to the language and mathematical structures of a word problem, and support them in making sense of the problem before they try to solve it.

This strategy develops language and mathematical literacy by helping students to make sense of both the context and the mathematical structures of the problem before attempting to solve it. Facilitates student engagement in meaningful academic discussion and productive struggle.
