This page is dedicated to resources that will help pupils thrive in our subjects or for Parents to learn something that cant help their understanding of what their son / daughter do on a day to day basis.
Ask yourself this...you're at school...you have a test...how much percentage wise do you need to pass? Most likely you are thinking of 50%, am I right? Now imagine the course you are studying has 6 topics with six elements to each topic. If you only need 50% to pass...you could potentially enter and exam only knowing 18 elements of a whole course out of 36!!!! This is not preparing you for the next step...We have devised a number of 100% tests that pupils will sit over and over and over again until the get every single answer correct. Done with the best intentions and in a supportive manner it can be a very powerful tool.
We are really proud of our reporting system. Looking at encouraging transferable skills as well as core Design Technology skills. We believe it embeds what we value in the pupils the most, who we want to encourage to study the creative courses further.
We are a Growth Mindset school. We believe in effort being the most important element of success. It does not matter if you are the best at something or the worst...you can improve with determination, effort, failure and a positive mentality.
An attitude of not giving up is key to success in school...seems to be the luckiest people in society tend to be the hardest working. Stick with problems and don't shy away from the challenging questions...that's what you need to do if you want to match your aspirations or the potential your teachers see with in you.

You may or may not have heard of Richard Feynman but he has probably been involved in things you have seen that have effected the world in a positive way. A Nobel Prize winner, an outstanding teacher, a joker and part of the team that brought to light the reasoning behind the challenger disaster. We highly recommend researching Feynman on Google or Youtube. We particularly love him as he breaks down learning...."If you cannot describe it simply enough, then you do not understand it well enough". Applying this logic...especially at a senior phase will differentiate between ability to regurgitate information and showing a true understanding for the topic. One way we approach this is for our seniors to take a really challenging concept or skill, learn it in detail, and teach it to classes lower down the school.
