This unit it designed to engage students in all aspects of fractions, proportions and ratios at Level 2 - Early Level 3.
The task can be set as an assignment online (obviously students making their own copy) or printed out and completed on paper (more ideal early on).
The types of problems are repeated each time, so students can consolidate their ideas and learn to add more detail to their explanations without the content/difficulty changing too rapidly.
Fractions Fun #1 has been completed on these slides to show how problems can be solved, and what kind of detail you should expect from students when they complete the tasks. Learning to explain their ideas is a huge part of this programme, but it may take time for the students to develop the skills and knowledge to complete the task to a high standard.
The Fractions Frenzy unit follows a similar setup to Fractions Fun, only it is more targeted at Level 3 - Level 4 in terms of difficulty.
This unit may require some specific modelling in terms of understanding the problems, and modelling to students what kind of detail/explanation you require from them.
Fractions Frenzy #1 has been completed on these slides to show how problems can be solved, and what kind of detail you should expect from students when they complete the tasks.
Much the same as Fractions Fun, allow your students a good amount of time to complete these tasks, then review their work with you before moving onto the next one.
