We want assemblies to be a time of celebration, positivity, and sharing. In order for this to happen, we need a high level of engagement and respect from our students and staff.
The expectations on students are:
Enter assemblies in an orderly way, find seats, sit down.
Stand/sit silently for karakia, anthem and songs.
Listen silently to messages from speakers, certificate announcements etc.
Show full attention, engage in messages when appropriate.
Applaud/cheer for performances and certificate winners.
The expectations on teachers are:
Active monitoring of students in their immediate area. (supported by learning assistants)
Positive praise/recognition of good assembly manners. (use reward systems where necessary)
Target undesirable behaviours quickly and redirect students.
Plan ahead - seat students in smart places, near suitable peers etc.
