Connections with the People:
Because of the Campbell’s Soup boycott, FLOC was able to successfully get over 1 million people involved. Among all those, they got support from church groups, some American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, and Communication Workers of America locals.
Religion:
Since most of migrant farm workers come from Mexico, the common religion among them is Catholicism. But FLOC also is successful in reaching and deploying Latino and non-Latino Protestant groups as well. So, FLOC used this as a platform to get the word out. They relied on church groups to publicize the harsh working conditions, and to lead boycotts that publicize what supply chains were being targeted. From this also arose other groups that were created to support farm workers.
Collective Bargaining Partnerships:
After signing collective bargaining agreements with major corporations, FLOC continued to keep a close relationship with them. This was to ensure legal accountability, to acknowledge adjustments that need to be done, and to address any concerns through the CBA’s grievance procedure.
FLOC Homies Union:
This project is a social movement that was set up by FLOC. The purpose of it is to acknowledge the needs of the Latino community specifically in Toledo. They do this by creating a democratic institution, and a unified collective voice. The group consists of youth from the age of 14-24. They focus on identifying needs in their communities, helping find a solution, and taking action to solve the problems in their communities.
Is a group of youth in North Carolina that is similar to FLOC Homies Union. The group is trained by FLOC so that they know their rights, and are able to stand up for themselves. They travel to D.C to picket for the Reynolds campaign, receive training on workplace rights, and deliver petition signatures to Reynolds American INC.
