Endocrine Hormones ~ Choose Your Own Adventure 12/6/22

The task was to reaserch the location and function of different hormones. 

The objective is to learn about different hormones and with that knowledge, show our understanding by constructing a model on a specific topic which I chose, "What does it mean to have fast metabolism"?

This assignment fits into the unit by having us be able to plug in what we got from the hormones and brainstrom a model on how different hormones function in the body.

This assignment showcases my strenght to be able to develop a model that explains the infomation provided. It connects to the theme of the course considering the fact that it connects with other body parts that we covered in class.

I enjoyed this assignment since I was able to pick my own topic but also learn from others who picked a different topic. This assignemnt connects to the community since everyone has hormones.

Bob Berry Diagnosis 12/21/22

The task of this assignment was to make a presentation explaining a diagnosis, include hormones and glands, explain the symptom, explain why vision is affected, and include a feedback loop. 

The objective of this assignment was to work with my team to investigate hormones and glands of the endocrine system and use information you find to piece together clues provided by your patient and make a diagnosis. 

The assignment fit into the unit by having us analyze the symptoms, and using our knowledge of how hormones in glands work to find how when the gland is not functioning, what diagnose it causes. Through completing this assignment I learned too much of a hormone can affect the function of another gland.

The challenging part of this assignment was the teamwork factor. To improve on the assignment, communication would be a key factor to make sure the work gets complete.

How did the football player die? 3/13/23

The task was to use what we learned in class to create a presentation about a football player. 

The objective was to describe how osmosis and water intoxication affected the way the football player died. 

This fits into the overall unit by showing my understanding in useful and thorough insight into water intoxication and osmosis, specifically including its effect on the structures and functions of the body systems. 

This assignment showcases my strength in being able to apply what I learned to further understand different conditions of which osmosis is used in. 

This assignment connects to the larger world considering the fact that there are many athletes out there and many ads for energy drinks like Gatorade. Saying that athletes could have the same thing happen to them.

Liquids & Cells 3/1/23

The task was to create a presentation about an  experiment which was to be able to observe and identify how different types of liquids affect the hydration of cells. 

The objective was to show our understanding of how the different types of liquids we drink get into our cells and affect the hydration of them. 

Since we are studying and focusing on the Urinary system this connects in ways where what we drink may increase the amount of urine and our bladders being able to hold a certain amount of fluid throughout.

I learned out that the cells within the solution can be affected when the mass of the baggies increase or decrease and if the liquid seeped inside the baggies as well.

The challenging part was being able to show our understanding and putting it in words.

Race Timelines 5/9/23

The task of this assignment was to create a timeline illustrating different period in a race. 

The objective of this assignment connect body systems and different energy within the time period a race, potraying different runners.

This assignment was completed as part of our unit about the muscular system and how muscles function. By completing this assignment I learned how energy shifts to match with the body's needs. 

This assignment showcases my strenght in explaining how different body systems perform together. This assignment represents important themes of how the body functions and its limitations. 

I enjoyed this assignment because I was able to connect to it, and I think it was run to think about when im running how my body actually works. This assignment connects to the larger world because everybody moves somehow, even though its not running we all use energy in our daily activities. 

Sliding Filament Theory Model 4/28/23

The task of this assignment was to create a presentation in any format to show the process of one muscle contraction and relaxation cycle. 

The objective of the assignment was to show the steps of muscle contraction and relaxation in order with a description to each step. 

This assignment fits into the overall unit of the muscular system. After completing this assignment I learned the depth of how muscles move. 

The challanging part of this assignment was explaining the steps of the theory with words and not just visually. 

I could improve this assignment by including a brief description of each step.
