The Elks National Lodge has created a wonderful essay prompt: What Does Service to Your Country Mean to You? 

They are hosting a contest for students in grades 5-8. The essay gives students the opportunity to thoughtfully evaluate and express their views on service to their country. It is also a great way for you to get to know your students better!

This is a NATIONAL competition with prizes! The national prizes are 1st place -- $1,000, 2nd place -- $500, and 3rd place -- $250. Last year the local Elks lodge awarded student submissions with gift cards!

The Office of Humanities is requesting AT LEAST one submission from each grade level for each building due on Friday December 19th.
