Orange High School

This is Daniel Alfano's 14th year teaching history.  As you may assume, he loves to teach history. However, you might not know that he also loves to cook and is a family man.  "When I am not teaching day and night school at Orange High School, you can probably find me working on my house.  Cruising is my choice for summer vacations and I still love a good video game."

Mr. Freimark graduated from Rutgers University-New Brunswick with degrees in biological anthropology (BS) and history (BA) in 2013 and obtained his masters from San Francisco State University (2015). He then worked in various museums, music schools and other educational institutions before coming back to the public schools in 2023. When not teaching he enjoys playing musical instruments, physical culture, and retro video games and B-movies. 

Christopher Jacober

Ms. Jackson is a college graduate and certified Social Studies teacher at Orange High School. She would like to utilize and make provisions for learners attending Orange Public Schools to experience hands on and real-life history through the lens of authentic instruction following New Jersey Standards for the classroom. "I want to invest and make a deposit into the lives of each student engaged in learning process also, I am a lifelong learner, book collector and world traveler."

Mr. Lemke teaches Global Studies and our AP Modern World and US History Classes. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a B.A. in history and from received his M.A. from Southern New Hampshire University. 

Mr. McGlynn has been in education for nearly 8 years as a high school teacher. He has also coached baseball and basketball at the HS level for 7 years. He graduated from Montclair State with a BA in History and earned a Masters in Education from GCU. During his spare time he enjoys reading, hiking with his dog Josie, and watching the Yankees and Giants.

Ms. Gengaro graduated magna cum laude from Drew Universtiy as a Trustee Scholar with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science. Then it was onto Seton Hall Law School, where she was an editor on Law Review, graduated cum laude and was entered into the Order of the Coif. After 7 years of practice at the Newark firm of Sills Cummis she became a partner and focused on 1st Amendment law. She then decided to pursue a Masters in Education at Seton Hall University. "I always loved civics, government and history and decided to combine those passions with a teaching degree in Social Studies." 

Mr. Johnson graduated from The College of New Jersey with a BA in History and Secondary Education. His academic focus is on Ancient History. "I love showing different historic lenses to give as much perspective as possible." In his spare time, Mr. Johnson loves rock climbing, running, biking, and playing ultimate frisbee.

Ms. Guedes graduated from Drew University with a B.A. in both History and Anthropology and M.A.T. "I love learning about the cultures around me and sharing their beauty with others." Besides history, her passions include playing Rugby, painting, traveling, and trying new foods. 

Mr. Shulz attended Rutgers University and William Patterson University. He enjoys both watching and playing sports.

3-7 Teachers

Mr. Genovese is originally from Ocean County, New Jersey. He has been teaching for six years. He is very excited to begin his first year as a social studies teacher at Forest Street! He started his journey as an educator as a substitute teacher in Barnegat and Neptune. For the past three years he was the social studies teacher at Divine Mercy Academy in Rockaway. He enjoys spending time with friends and family whenever he can. Some of his hobbies include playing basketball, hiking, and watching movies.


Mr. Curran graduated from the School of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers University-New Brunswick with a degree in History in 2019. He went on to earn his Ed. M. in 6-12 Social Studies Education from the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University-New Brunswick in 2020. "I enjoy watching football, reading, and going down to the Jersey Shore in my spare time." 

Born in Bayonne, raised in Jersey City and then Cranford, Paul Halligan is the son of a railroad engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He attended Albright College in Reading PA where he received his BA in History. Paul was in the Airline business for 20 years before getting his Master's in Education at Monmouth University after which he started teaching in Orange in 2003. Mr. Halligan is married and has two children (now 27 and 29). He likes music, playing guitar/piano, singing and playing in his church's Praise Band. He loves golf and all sports. 

Mrs. Pais received her History degree and teaching certificate from Montclair State University.  She has been teaching for 14 years - all at Rosa Parks Community School.  In her spare time she loves to watch the Minnesota Vikings, read books, pet her cats, travel, and eat.  

This is Ms. Robinson's third year teaching in Orange. She graduated from Seton Hall University in 2018 with a double major in secondary education and history. She was on the Seton Hall Sapphires Dance Team during her time at Seton Hall and is a dance teacher at a studio after school. She has her own baking business, and loves the beach. "If I could travel back to any time period in history, it would either be The Salem Witch Trials or the French Revolution." 

In 2005, Mr. Rose graduated from Rutgers College with a B.A. in history. In 2006, he completed his teacher certification and Master's Degree and began his teaching career.  "Throughout my career I have taught various American History and American Studies courses and presently I am the World History teacher at Rosa Parks Community School." 

Mr. St. Fort is an alumni of Rutgers University, where he studied Political Science & History with a focus on International Relations.  He loves college sports, especially Rutgers, and visiting places less traveled as he takes a lot of interest in learning about the people and the cultures of those areas.  Most importantly, "I love giving back and spend my spare time helping people in need."

A long time ago, in a galaxy and state much like this one...one man achieved all his childhood dreams and became president. This is not the story of that man. This is the story of Mr. Van Valkenburg, who attended NJCU university, graduated cum laude and has been a teacher at Rosa Parks Community School since 2013. I enjoy writing, comics, board games and my family! 

Marc Levenson - Supervisor

Originally from Syracuse, NY, Mr. Levenson moved to New Jersey in 1999. He has been teaching social studies since 2002. He lives in Shrewsbury, NJ with his wife (Kristin), daughter (ZJ), and dog (Jetty). His passions (besides the history of anything/everything) are the beach, traveling, Brighton Seagulls Premier League "Football", NY Yankees baseball, Syracuse basketball, fighting weeds in his yard,  and trying to be a mediocre golfer.
