Robust Infrastructure

Current Status:

• One full-time district-wide library media specialist at the elementary level

• One full-time educational assistant in the high school library

• One full-time educational assistant in the middle school library

• One part-time educational assistant in the elementary school library

• Two full-time IT staff district-wide

• JK-12 using Canvas as learning management system

• 1:1 Chromebooks for students K-12

• Each teacher provided a MacBook, Chromebook, or desktop computer

• Each educational assistant provided a Chromebook

• Chromebooks available to students for loan if assigned device is forgotten or needs repair

• Laptops available for substitute teachers

• Chromebooks available for student teachers

• Hotspots available for students without home internet access when necessary

• Wi-Fi access points located throughout all three building levels in the Oostburg School District

• Each classroom equipped with a projector or interactive whiteboard/TV

• GetHelp system available for tech support for staff

• Contract with ITSavvy for repair on technology devices

• CIPA required content filtering in place

• Student access to electronic resources and databases through school district website and student bookmark folder on Chromebooks

• Strong working partnership with the IT Department

Possible Areas for Growth:

• Establish a consistent device replacement plan

• Moderate technology use

• Staff middle school and high school with  additional full-time certified library media specialists or share one between the two schools while keeping the library aides

• Introduce, train, and implement new technology and technology systems as they emerge and are necessary
