History at GCSE studies some of the main events
which have helped produce the world we live in
today.
The course provides the opportunity to study
Germany in depth as well as the tensions that arise
between the two global superpowers of the USA and
Russia. Through the thematic unit, students will
study over 1000 years of the history that shaped much of what Britain is like today. As well as Britain’s relationship with Europe and the wider world.
They will also have an opportunity to study Elizabethan England focussing on major events during
this time considering economics, religion and social
and political issues arising from contemporary and
historical controversies. This will involve a focussed study of an historical site.
Develop their communications skills through
analysis and interpretation of historical events.
Learn from the mistakes of the past and relate
these to our lives today and help to inform students’ political and social decision making skills.

marks for SPaG, this is 50% of the GCSE)

This course will be of interest to those who enjoy studying the events of the past and acquiring skills of dealing with evidence. A range of topics are studied which will give students an insight into important events that changed people's lives in the process.
