Roxanne Lazarte's Showcase

Through the years, Science was both confusing and interesting to me at the same time. There are certain topics that I enjoyed, while there are also some who made me ask so many questions! 😅 This school year, I aim to learn as much as I can about Science and gain a deeper understanding of its subject. In this section of the portfolio, my adventure towards accomplishing this goal will be presented. Let’s go!

FIRST QUARTER

Scientist Look-a-Like ⋆.ೃ࿔*:･

One of the most unforgettable experiences this school year for me was my participation in Scientist Look-a-like. First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to my very supportive classmates for trusting me to represent our section, to Kirsten, Cyril, Ashley, and other volunteers for helping me brainstorm some ideas, to my tatay Joey for being my videographer and making my visions come to life, to my nanay Anne for being my hairstylist, and to the reactors and sharers in the Facebook posting. And of course, I want to thank sir De Vera for guiding me throughout this competition. All of their support means a lot to me. I can’t do this without the mentioned people. My experience was indeed fun and informative. Ada Lovelace also inspired and empowered me as a woman and I am now looking forward to be an icon like her someday.

Collaborating with my classmates showed the dynamics of our team. From brainstorming to submitting our project, all of us went well together and was able to execute the video well. I find tsunamis very interesting. How can you escape from those giant waves? With this project, we learned how important an emergency kit is during these natural disasters by conveying some information creatively. Using visuals, acting, and entertainment contributed a lot in developing our skills and deepening our understanding regarding this particular topic.

Reflecting on my scores in our seatworks and homeworks, I am proud to say that I am slowly reaching my goal for this school year. All of these activities helped me practice my learnings in class and to develop my overall understanding about science. This also thought me great responsibility and enhanced my interest towards this subject. These paper works made me more motivated and encouraged me to accomplish success.

Honestly, I used to dislike to physics. I found it both boring and confusing. However, this school year has changed my perspective, thanks to Mr. De Vera's incredibly entertaining and engaging way of teaching. He starts our discussions with insightful life lessons that pique my interest and motivate me to delve deeper into the subject. Now, I view physics as something not only fascinating but also valuable.

I would describe this quarter as exceptionally enjoyable, at least when it comes to science. Our group activities have been a major highlight, making the quarter livelier and more interactive. The combination of challenges and laughter has created core memories that I will cherish forever. I am proud to say that my understanding of electromagnetic waves, light, and mirrors and image formation has expanded significantly. I look forward to applying all the knowledge I have gained to my academic future.

Moreover, I am genuinely excited to experience more of Mr. De Vera's unique and fun approach to teaching science. His methods have not only made learning enjoyable but also inspired a newfound appreciation for physics in me.

Ever since I was younger, I have always been fascinated by biology. For this school year, I must say that biology has taken on a new level of complexity. It was much more challenging than I had anticipated. However, thanks to our dedicated teachers and my own perseverance, I was able to grasp the lessons effectively.

At the beginning of the quarter, I found myself overwhelmed by the sheer volume of terms and definitions that needed to be memorized to truly master the subject. Despite the initial difficulty, as time progressed, our topics became more and more engaging. We tackled various intriguing school projects, such as drawing a neuron and identifying its parts, and delving into the intricacies of the endocrine system.

As we approach the end of the quarter, I acknowledge that there are still areas where I need to improve. Now, with the upcoming quarterly exams, I am diligently reviewing our lessons to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the material.

Overall, this third quarter has been quite an enriching experience. It has pushed me to my limits, tested my patience, and ultimately broadened my knowledge in ways I never imagined. Biology, with all its complexities, has continued to fuel my passion and curiosity for the natural world. Here's to embracing the challenges and celebrating the learning journey!

As a math enthusiast, one of the aspects I genuinely love about chemistry is the computational side of it. The process of solving for temperature, volume, and pressure through mathematical formulas sparks an excitement that makes learning even more enjoyable. Out of all the quarters we’ve tackled, this one proved to be the most manageable for me. While there were still moments of confusion along the way, I took them in stride and managed to build a solid understanding of the topics. A particularly proud moment was during our Mid-Quarter Examination, where I achieved near perfection, making just one mistake. This achievement served as a great motivator, encouraging me to push even harder and aim for excellence in the next challenges.

Reflecting on this quarter, the most unforgettable experience would undoubtedly be our SIP Defense. This was an entirely new experience for me, and the thought of presenting in front of panelists filled me with both anticipation and nervousness. To prepare, I devoted myself to studying our experiment thoroughly to ensure I could explain it with precision and confidence. My groupmates and I collaborated seamlessly, and together we were able to address the panelists' inquiries clearly and thoughtfully. Interestingly, we had the opportunity to present to the strictest panelists in the batch. Rather than feeling intimidated, I took it as a valuable learning experience. Their challenging questions and insightful feedback pushed us to think critically and to further refine our understanding.

What made this experience particularly impactful was the sense of accomplishment and growth it brought. Facing such a rigorous defense and overcoming it successfully gave me a newfound sense of readiness to tackle future challenges. Thanks to the constructive criticism and the lessons imparted by the panelists, I feel more confident and better equipped to approach future endeavors with the skills and knowledge I have gained.
