The purpose of this response is help you understand how images, in addition to words, get used to shape audience's thoughts and beliefs. As a reader and producer of arguments, it is important for you to understand how the visual components of these arguments influence audiences. Likewise, it is important for you to understand the ethics of the choices that you make.
First, read "A short guide to visuals in your writing for Postgraduate Taught students" from Library Services at the University of Birmingham and "Using Visual Rhetoric in Academic Writing" from Duke University's Writing Studio paying attention to the strategies they provide for how you can use, create and edit different type of visuals to create an impact on your audience.
Second, looking at your own data think about how you might use images to present the issue that you are examining with your research or your raw data (i.e., data without interpretation or analysis). Think through at least two visuals that you would consider using in your IMRAD Essay. These should be images that you would use in an academic essay. Therefore, they would probably be photographs, graphs, charts, or tables. Clip art and emojis would probably only be appropriate as examples for an essay about clip art or emojis.
Third, produce or collect these images and be sure to include any captions, titles, or explanations in the appropriate MLA or APA citation style.
Fourth , think about the impact that these images will have on how your audience read your IMRAD Essay. Consider the following questions:
Fifth, in a response include the two images and in 300-500 words explain 1) what purpose the images serve in understanding the research problem or the data you collected 2) the answers to the above questions, and 3) how will these image specifically help the analysis process (i.e., the thinking that you do to use your data to answer the research questions) and the reporting of your data analysis.
