A Response is individual work that allows you to demonstrate your understanding of the course material; it is also a way for you to pre-write content that will be used in some of your assignments. As prewriting, the Responses also gives you the opportunity to get feedback from the instructor on this material. Therefore, you will have the opportunity to revise it for the assignment submission.

The more you engage with the reading and writing of these materials at this stage of the process, the more feedback you get from the instructor which will make writing your assignments easier. Therefore, it is not recommended that you simply go through the motions in writing up these Responses.
The instructor anticipates that you will not understand everything that you have been assigned to read and watch. That is okay; this is what learning is about. Use the Responses to also pose specific questions about things you do not understand. You will not be penalized for trying to learn; however, students who demonstrate an understanding of the material will be rewarded.
