Art

The art curriculum provides a broad offering of experiences in art, as well as the depth of study necessary to provide a college or vocational preparatory course of study for those students who intend to major in art and make art a career choice. The program is also structured to meet the needs of those students who wish to explore the various areas of art for non-vocational purposes. These courses are designed to introduce the student to a variety of art concepts and skill areas. The sequence is designed to provide the student with a foundation in basic and advanced techniques while also communicating conceptual ideas through their artwork.

Before junior year, students needing a portfolio of artwork to complete their college/scholarship application should consult with an art instructor regarding their sequence of courses and the requirements of a portfolio. College credit earned through the Advanced Placement Art Courses may also be used by non-art majors to satisfy college elective credit requirements.
