Mandatory Pre-placement Training
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
Occupational Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps
Working at Heights (mandatory for construction placements)
Ladder Safety Training (mandatory for roofing placement)
Any other site-specific training required by the employer (approved case by case)
Accident Reporting
Any injury or disease, however minor, suffered by a student during a work placement must be reported by the student to the placement employer and to the cooperative education teacher. All school board policies and procedures for reporting injuries at the workplace must be followed, which are outlined in Co-op Student Accidents, Injuries or Diseases Reporting Form below.
Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program
Students in OYAP may be entitled to additional supports and/or reach ahead opportunities. Any student placed in an apprenticeship pathway is automatically considered an OYAP student (must be 15 years old and have successfully completed 14 credits).
