Intent

Art and Design provides the children at Oaks Primary Academy with the opportunities to develop and extend skills and an opportunity to express their individual interests, thoughts and ideas. HIgh quality art should engage, inspire and challenge pupils equipping them with the knowledge to experiment, invent and create.

Implementation

The areas covered at Oaks are: printing, painting, textiles, use of IT, collage. This is developed through our PYP framework which nurtures and develops the pupils and encourages them to be active individuals in their learning journey. Opportunities to showcase work to other pupils in the school and celebrate their successes.

Impact

• Pupils are continuously building on their prior learning and applying it to other curricular areas.

• Pupils are always encouraged to reflect on their learning and look at their progression throughout the year.

• Teachers use AFL strategies to inform their planning for the future and close misconceptions.

• Every pupil is supported and challenged appropriately.
