At Oaks Primary Academy, we place a particular emphasis on the Arts as we see the benefit on our pupils' and staff well-being. Engaging in the Arts is also a brilliant way to see how we are connected to the world around us.
Below, you will see our Assembly schedule and the termly focus on music which all pupils take part in.
We will also share an example of the slides used at each Wednesday's assembly, which always has a music focus.
At our assemblies, pupils also have the opportunity to share their musical culture. Here you will see a pupil from Year 5 sharing his traditional Nigerian drum, when the music focus was on Africa, and Nigeria in particular. Moments like this bring the learning alive for our pupils and also show children that their traditions are respected and valued at our school.
We have shared songs between our school and our link school tfor pupils to learn. What we loved about the video that Sele school shared back to us is that they created their own actions to the song.
Sele school then shared a video in their language Chichewa, which Year 3 are currently learning. The lyrics are below.
